Repairing Window Blinds

 Repairing a blind can save you money if you are able to find the damaged part in question.

It may be worth your while going back to the company that you bought the blind in the first place if it is known. Make a note of the part in question and contact the company to see if you can obtain a replacement part. Many blinds manufactures have parts that only go with their blind and so you need to be sure of the manufacture of blind. For example there are a number of different types of cord locks on Venetian Blinds. If you are unsure you may find it time consuming trying to locate the correct part.

Here are the parts on most blinds which can be repaired. They are the cord lock, lift cord, the tilting wand if you have one on your blind and the tilt control. If you have a vertical blind you will be able to buy replacement slats (louvers), bottom chain and hanger rails.Venetian Blinds can be restrung but this should be done by a professional. The sidewinders on a roller blind can be replaced, but again you need the type of control or the manufacture as many companies have their own components.

Disassemble your blind noting carefully how it came apart. When you get to the part that needs to be replaced, make a note of it and see if it is possible to order a new one and replace when you get your part.

If you have a vertical blind you will be able to buy replacement slats (louvers), bottom chain and hanger rails.

If all fails then it maybe time to order a new blind.

Replacement slats/ louvers

To order these replacement slats- Select a fabric from our wide range. If you need samples click the request sample for the choice of blind and we will send it to you. Measure the hem to hem with a metal tape measure. Calculate the number of slats required. To ensure that your new slats will fit your headrail clips, either send us a photo or one of your hangers.

Alternatively, you can send us one of your slats along with the hanger and we and also ensure the new ones will fit the hanger and we'll measure and give you a price.
